What Running Operations in Vienna Taught Me About Systems

A process is useful when someone outside your own habits can run it.

The setting

Venue operations combine a calendar with people, space and dependencies. The work in Vienna included daily operations, a two-day festival and a community partnership.

The proposed lens

A useful process should explain itself to someone joining the work. A private routine can be efficient for one person and fragile for everyone else. That distinction is worth examining through a concrete operating example.

The missing scene

The final note needs the author’s own scene: a handoff that failed, the process that replaced it and what changed. No invented incident has been inserted into this sample.
